In addition to clan emblems we need gear to be customizable in color, especially surcoats, shields and helmets. The plain white ones won't cut it.

Ideally it wouldn't be just plain colors but a couple of different styles to choose from like one half this color, one half the other or horizontal/diagonal stripes. Whatever fits the 13th century theme.

The actual clan emblems could be optional so it still looks good in the end.

There are several complications with equipment colouring, and while technical issues and UI difficulties could be all solved with time, there are other big questions that would need to be answered before we can guarantee that it will be added. For example, allowing to freely pick colours would definitely lead to obvious immersion breaking by selecting ones that don't fit the century, and providing pre-selected colours would limit the number of designs.

Won't be focusing on pure visual improvements at the moment, since gameplay requires quite a lot of dedication, but will be discussing it further in the future, and will update the state of the idea once there is a conclusion.

I mean, it doesn't have to be all fancy in the beginning. You could start by simply offering a surcoat in a couple of different heraldic colors so that everyone can freely choose between them. That would already bring a lot immersion to the table.

what about set predefined "color ranges" that means you set for example 30 predefined colors and every color has a RGB color range from maybe 100-1000 colors. So you can make sure people will not looking like pink unicorns and you will still have variety. e.g #640A0A   - #FF0A0A   includes 155 different tones of red but is still red

with mixing colors like : red, green, blue, yellow.brown, grey, dark purple... in your personal color tone you can definitly have your unique combination even with a huge playerbase.

You dont even have to be unique colored, design like half half color, patterns and your coat of arms will make it unique anyways

heraldicly speaking there wouldn't be that many colors anyway.

also there are some suggestions which have similiar requirements like : secondary weapons , more layers for armor like wearing mail unter a helmet and custom colors. This all require a huge UI overhaul and so it would makes sense to me to do the UI overhaul (for equipment) first and make it a dynamic expandable system so it can be expanded with all that features.

Then features can be added time by time if they are wanted.
