That tiny axe we previously had as a sidearm was the length of my foot and was all cutting damage, which is worthless against any knightly 2h-er storming towards you. By the pole axe, do you mean that polearm weapon that peasants start out with? That doesn't necessarily make sense as a sidearm either, since you can knock people flat on their ass in two hits with it if you hit them right with it. The sword makes the most sense as a sidearm, and I don't see how it supports a 2h playstyle - I play mostly the same as I did before except I can actually reach people with the damn thing.
Im all for the option of choosing between the two of them
